Ciao Bella is an Italian restaurant situated in the heart of Bloomsbury, five minutes from Russell Square Tube Station. It is always a popular choice for diners, offering a friendly family atmosphere, exceptional staff and amazing food.
This traditional Italian restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from midday to 23.30 and until 22.30 on Sunday and Bank Holidays. There is a resident pianist who plays classic Italian tunes every night, adding to its charm.
The menu is extensive and caters for all. I started with the garlic bread, half with cheese and half with tomato. Be warned it is pretty big and could easily be offered as a main. Best to share a few slices around the table and it tastes delightful. I also sampled the parma ham and melon which together is a perfect combination; refreshing and with that little taste of Italy!
As a main I would recommend the Saltimbocca Alla Romana; veal escallops deliciously topped with parma ham, sage and white wine. The combination of flavours is perfect, hats off to the chef as it was cooked just right.
A favourite Italian dessert of mine is Tiramisu. At Ciao Bella it is homemade and the portion is rather large. It is one of the best I have had, and almost too good to share! It is creamy, not at all overpowered by the coffee taste, and with a nice hint of rum and amaretto. Loved it!
To wash it all down the wine list is extensive. We went for some Veneto region wine, with its refreshing and fruity taste. Birra Moretti is available too for beer drinkers.
Overall it is a great experience. The food is excellent, and not at all expensive. The staff are welcoming and make you feel at home. A perfect place to spend an evening with family and friends that you will remember for a long time!
